Babar targets T20I ton in England series
Pakistan limited-overs captain Babar Azam has vowed to score a ton against England in the upcoming three-match Twenty20 International (T20I) series starting from August 28 in Manchester.
While speaking to reporters via video link, the 25 year-old, who is also the vice-captain of Test side, was disappointed with his run with the bat in the longest format of the game. However, he is optimistic to overcome his mistakes in the future Test matches.
“It is disappointing that I couldn’t convert my starts into big scores but I will learn from these mistakes. I have analysed those in order to get better in the forthcoming series,” said Babar.
The right-hander said he always try to give 100 percent for the team and scoring a ton in the shortest format is his primary goal in the upcoming series. “I always try to play as well as I can. It is one of my goals to score a century in T20Is and to be honest, my aim is to score one in this series,” he said.
The Lahore native was also excited to see rookie batsman Haider Ali in the squad after his impressive debut season in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and at the junior level.
“He [Haider] is a great talent and an outstanding player. We have tried to involve him in this group. He is playing well in nets and also in the practice matches,” added the number one ranked T20I batsman.
Babar was in awe of all-rounder Shadab Khan, who performed brilliantly in this year’s PSL while batting up the order. “He played outstandingly, scored runs and took wickets. We will plan and try to utilize him up the order,” Babar maintained.
It must be noted that the national team has arrived in Manchester for the T20I series.
