HAMBURG: The Taiwan Flour Millers' Association purchased an estimated 99,895 tonnes of milling wheat to be sourced from the United States in a tender which closed on Thursday, European traders said. The wheat was bought in two consignments comprising various wheat types for shipment from the US Pacific Northwest coast in October and November, they said.

The first consignment for shipment between Oct. 13 and Oct. 27 involved 30,955 tonnes of US dark northern spring wheat of 14.5% protein content bought at $273.19 a tonne FOB US Pacific Northwest coast, traders said. The first consignment also involved 14,160 tonnes of hard red winter wheat of 12.5% protein content bought at $264.74 a tonne FOB and 5,285 tonnes of soft white wheat with 9% protein bought at $226.16 a tonne FOB.

The first consignment has an additional freight charge of $27.49 per tonne for ocean shipping from the US Pacific Northwest coast to Taiwan, they said. The first consignment was all sold by trading house CHS, they said.

The second consignment for shipment between Oct. 29 and Nov. 12 involved 30,635 tonnes of dark northern spring wheat of 14.5% protein content bought at $271.14 a tonne FOB US Pacific Northwest coast.

The second consignment also included 14,030 tonnes of hard red winter wheat of 12.5% protein content bought at $263.62 a tonne FOB and 4,830 tonnes of soft white wheat of 9% protein bought at $226.23 a tonne FOB. The second consignment has an additional freight charge of $28.48 per tonne for ocean shipping from the US Pacific Northwest coast to Taiwan, they said.
