LAHORE: Leader of Opposition in National Assembly and President Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Shehbaz Sharif has rejected the 84-paisa per unit hike in electricity tariff.
Reacting to the increase in the power tariff, Shehbaz demanded of the federal government to immediately withdraw the decision as the increase in electricity tariff was intolerable and unjust. "The prime minister who tried to become a hero by not allowing hike in petroleum products prices has become 'zero' by increasing the prices of gas and electricity," Shehbaz said, adding: "PM Imran Khan is filling the pockets of his aides by further burdening the public."
He also maintained that the government has criminally delayed the import of LNG which led to production of electricity from oil instead of the cheaper natural gas. "Who is responsible for this?" he asked.
