ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly's Standing Committee on Industries and Production on Thursday took notice of the allegedly substandard production of vehicles by two leading automobile manufacturers in Pakistan and formed a sub-committee to probe the matter.
The committee met under the chairmanship of Sajid Hussain Turi. During the meeting, the committee took up the "issues being faced by the general public owing to substandard production of automobile vehicles." The committee members were of the opinion that automobile manufacturers-Toyota and Suzuki- were not providing air bags and Anti-lock Breaking System (ABS) in automobile vehicles. The committee also took stock of increase in the prices of the vehicles from January, 2020, and decided to form a sub-committee under the convener-ship of Riaz ul Haq to probe the matter and report back to the committee as early as possible with a detailed report. The said sub-committee will look into the operations of Toyota Indus Motors, Pak Suzuki Motors and Pakistan Steel Mills as well and submit its report to the NA Standing Committee on Industries and Productions with its observations/findings and recommendations.
