Beverages factory raided: Iranian-origin smuggled milk powder, chemicals recovered

KARACHI: Model Customs Collectorate (MCC), Preventive, Karachi on Thursday claimed to have recovered substantial quantities of Iranian-origin smuggled milk powder and chemicals from a beverages factory.

According to details, the action was taken on a tip-off, which revealed that a beverages factory was involved in using smuggled Iranian-origin milk powder and chemicals in its products. Reacting on this information, a team of ASO preventive Karachi raided the factory located at New Karachi commercial area and recovered large quantities of Iranian-origin smuggled milk powder and chemicals.

The team has recovered eight containers of smuggled milk powder and two containers of chemical worth in millions. Consequent upon recovery, the owner of the beverages factory has been arrested and FIR has been lodged against him. Further investigation is in progress.
