Country's exports for the month of August 2020 have declined by 20.89 percent to $1.583 billion in August 2020 compared to $2.001 billion during the same period of last month. But there are cogent reasons for this fall. One of the key reasons is torrential rains of July-August that had badly paralysed life across the country.
Having said that, I must say that in our country there is a lack of understanding of a situation that includes what is more than apparent. For example, country's trade balance continues to improve despite lower exports in August. But improvement in trade balance must not take focus away from efforts aimed at increased exports.
