KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 224,388 tonnes of cargo comprising 136,520 tonnes of import cargo and 87,868 tonnes of export cargo including 4,630 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday.

The total import cargos of 136,520 tonnes comprised of 42,587 tonnes of containerised cargo; 3,004 tonnes of bulk cargo; 8,298 tonnes of DPA; 18,077 tonnes of wheat and 64,554 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 87,868 tonnes comprised of 39,713 tonnes of containerised cargo; 46,155 tonnes of clinker and 2,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 4,630 containers comprising of 1,045 containers import and 3,585 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 519 of 20's and 243 of 40's loaded while 18 of 20's and 11 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 428 of 20's and 252 of 40's loaded containers while 751 of 20's and 951 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were ten ships namely Cosco America, MSC Hina, Ever Ursula, George Washing Bridge, Bomar Milione, Ginga Courage, Mouton, Sunshine, Imari and Xin Shou Hai carrying containers, oil tanker, clinker and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were eight vessels viz. Thor Sky, Hyundai Oakland, Ubena, Ginga Courage, Hibiscus, Christina Selmer, Liv Auerbach and Imari carrying containers, oil tanker, clinker and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

There are two ships namely Hyundai Oakland and Navi Sunny carrying containers and general cargo respectively expected to sail on Monday.

There are three vessels viz. CSAV Tyndall, Wan Hai-611 and TRF Kristansand carrying containers and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Monday while six more vessels viz. Safeen Oryx, Charlotte Schulte, Capitan Maslov, CSL Sophie, Paris Express and Coventry carrying containers and wheat respectively are expected due to arrive on Tuesday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 194,269 tonnes comprising 142,781 tonnes of import cargo and 51,488 tonnes of export cargo including 3,679 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Monday.

The total import cargo of 142,781 tonnes includes 57,911 tonnes of coal; 3,650 tonnes of LPG; 10,000 tonnes of palm oil; 35,300 tonnes of furnace oil; 9,415 tonnes of chemical and 26,505 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 51,488 tonnes includes 8,092 tonnes of cement; 43,396 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 3,679 containers comprising of 1,395 containers import and 2,284 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.

There were two ships namely Safmarine Ngami and Santos carrying containers and LPG respectively sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while three more ships namely Nord Magellan, Gulf Mist and Facility carrying containers, chemical and furnace oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of thirteen ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, steel coil, coal, cement, chemical, canola, furnace oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as eighteen vessels viz. Adomes, Izumo, Han Hai, KSL Don Yong, Al Bion Bay, Makiki, IVS Naruo, Amestel Seagul, Hasan, YM Stum, YM Pacific, Tomson Gas, Gas Zous, White Purl, Nord Venus, Cordula Jacob, SII Pridge and Jal Pari carrying general cargo, steel coil, coal, cement, chemical, canola, LPG, gasoline and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were four ships viz. MSC Asya, Milaha Raslaffan, White Purl and Nord Venus carrying containers, LNG, LPG and gasoline respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Engro Elengy Terminal, SSGC LPG Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Monday.

There were two ships namely MSC Asya and Milaha Raslaffan carrying containers and LNG respectively due to arrive on Monday.
