KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 146,226 tonnes of cargo comprising 99,553 tonnes of import cargo and 46,673 tonnes of export cargo including 4,076 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday.

The total import cargos of 99,553 tonnes comprised of 29,957 tonnes of containerised cargo; 448 tonnes of DAP; 12,898 tonnes of wheat and 56,250 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 46,673 tonnes comprised of 22,080 tonnes of containerised cargo; 617 tonnes of bulk cargo; 18,196 tonnes of clinker and 5,780 tonnes of loose bulk cement.

As many as 4,076 containers comprising of 1,568 containers import and 2,508 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 735 of 20's and 356 of 40's loaded while 01 of 20's and 60 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 405 of 20's and 431 of 40's loaded containers while 237 of 20's and 502 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were seven ships namely Diyala, Moen Island, CSL Sophie, Tabernacle Prince, Linus-P, Hibiscus and Eastern Begonia carrying containers, cement, chemical, clinker and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were four vessels viz. MSC Maria Laura, Densa Falcon, Port Canton and Filia Glory carrying containers, fertilizer and clinker respectively currently at the berths.

There are three ships namely Wan Hai-611, MT Quetta and LIV Auerbach carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively expected to sail on Friday.

There are six vessels viz. Kota Kaya, MSC Jeanne, FOS Spirit, Flag Filia, Dato Success and KSL Dan Yang carrying containers, oil tanker, DAP and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Friday while five more vessels viz. Ever Dainty, Hyundai Paramount, Kapitan Maslov, DM Jade and JBU Onyx carrying containers and chemical respectively are expected due to arrive on Saturday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 137,521 tonnes comprising 113,802 tonnes of import cargo and 23,719 tonnes of export cargo including 3,142 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Friday.

The total import cargo of 113,802 tonnes includes 45,012 tonnes of coal; 259 tonnes of LPG; 6,817 tonnes of palm oil; 11,500 tonnes of canola; 10,167 tonnes of gasoline; 1,992 tonnes of project cargo and 38,019 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 23,719 tonnes includes 2,040 tonnes of cement; 21,679 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 3,142 containers comprising of 2,001 containers import and 1,141 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.

There were two ships namely STI Pride and Jal Pari carrying gasoline and palm oil respectively sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while three more ships namely CMA CGM Ivanhoe, Aldi Wave and KSL Don Yong carrying containers and general cargo respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of seven ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, cement and canola respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as twenty one vessels viz. Jeppeson Maersk, Spheno, Adames, Izumo, KSL Don Yong, Al-Bion Bay, Karimu, Agmars, Maetiga, Hasan, YM Saturn, YM Pacific, Tomson Gas, Gas Zous, Gas Pacu, Gas Amazon, Nord Venus, Aponia, Velos Saphire, Songa Diamond and Chemroad Wing carrying containers, general cargo, steel coil, coal, cement, chemical, soyabean, canola, LPG, gasoline, gas oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were five ships viz. Sphene, Baltic Bridge, Karinu, Maeliga and MT Lahore carrying containers, coal and gas oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Friday.

There were two ships namely Baltic Bridge and MT Lahore carrying containers and gas oil respectively due to arrive on Friday.

There are two ships namely Sea Bravery and Cubal carrying cement and LNG respectively due to arrive on Saturday while another ship namely MSC Jeanno carrying containers is due to arrive on Sunday.
