Rashakai Special Economic Zone will help development of K-P: PM
- Imran says K-P has taken lead in poverty alleviation which is a welcoming sign
(Karachi) Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that Rashakai will be the second Special Economic Zone after Faisalabad under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project.
Addressing the participants after inking an agreement to make Rashakai into an Economic Industrial Zone on Monday, he said that Rashakai will prove to be a milestone in development of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
Imran said that K-P has taken lead in poverty alleviation which is a welcoming sign.
The prime minister said the completion of this economic zone will promote ease of doing business in the country and facilitate the local and foreign investors.
Highlighting the strategic significance of Rashakai Special Economic Zone, he said the development of this zone and peace in Afghanistan will help develop connectivity to Central Asia that can change the destiny of the region.
Imran said Uzbek leadership has shown interest in developing rail track from Mazar Shareef Afghanistan to Peshawar and it can trigger a revolution for industrial growth in the country.
He said the mega ML-1 project will also help promote local businesses as it will reduce the traveling time between Karachi and Lahore to just eight hours.
Earlier, CPEC Chairman Asim Saleem Bajwa said China Road and Bridge Construction Company is the development partner with Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government for Rashakai project. He said this will accelerate industrialization in Pakistan.
The Rashakai Special Economic Zone project is a flagship project of the current government for the development, prosperity and economic growth of the province. With the establishment of the economic zone, thousands of new employment opportunities would be created in K-P.
