KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 324,232 tonnes of cargo comprising 211,447 tonnes of import cargo and 112,785 tonnes of export cargo including 7,871 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday.
The total import cargos of 211,447 tonnes comprised of 89,171 tonnes of containerised cargo; 12,036 tonnes of bulk cargo; 18,184 tonnes of DAP; 23,694 tonnes of wheat and 68,362 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 112,785 tonnes comprised of 49,721 tonnes of containerised cargo; 46,550 tonnes of clinker; 3,517 tonnes of loose bulk cement and 12,997 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 7,871 containers comprising of 3,314 containers import and 4,557 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 684 of 20's and 1,281 of 40's loaded while 04 of 20's and 32 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 956 of 20's and 272 of 40's loaded containers while 457 of 20's and 1,300 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were ten ships namely Botany Bay, Ever Dainty, MSC Maria Laura, Kapitan Maslov, Nordspring, Chemroad Rose, NACC Pros, DM Jade, JBU Onyx and Nordmerkur carrying containers, cement, chemical and mogas respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were eight vessels viz. Ever Dainty, Hyundai Paramount, Kapitan Maslov, Baltic Bridge, Esperanza-N, Taihua Glory, DM Jade and JBU Onyx carrying containers, oil tanker and chemical respectively currently at the berths.
There are four ships namely Baltic Bridge, Ever Dainty, Dubai Charm and Port Canton carrying containers, oil tanker and clinker respectively expected to sail on Monday.
There are three vessels viz. Mayssan, Ulanga and DS Cougar carrying containers and oil tanker respectively due to arrive on Monday while four more vessels viz. Saxonia, New Horizon, Fpmc-29 and Crown Virtue carrying containers, DAP, mogas and clinker respectively are expected due to arrive on Tuesday.
PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 225,745 tonnes comprising 183,736 tonnes of import cargo and 42,009 tonnes of export cargo including 2,522 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The total import cargo of 183,736 tonnes tonnes includes 35,100 tonnes of coal; 78,595 tonnes of LNG; 7,000 tonnes of palm oil; 17,994 tonnes of steel coil; 14,303 tonnes of seeds; 7,000 tonnes of gas oil; 11,677 tonnes of chemical; 1,678 tonnes of LPG and 5,909 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 42,009 tonnes includes 42,009 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 2,522 containers comprising of 311 containers import and 2,211 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
There were two ships namely Jeppeson Maersk and Cobal carrying containers and coal respectively sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while five more ships namely MSC Jeanne, Karimu, YM Pacific, Chemroad Hope and Gas Pacu carrying containers, coal, canola, chemical and LPG respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of twelve ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, steel coil, coal, cement, chemical, canola and LPG respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as sixteen vessels viz. MSC Giulia, Adames, Izumo, SSI Victory, Ocean Banquet, Osiris, Chemroad Sea, Hasan, Tomson Gas, Gas Zous, Gas Amazon, Seri Balqis, Nord Venus, Aponia, Songa Diamond and Torm Atlantic carrying containers, general cargo, coal, cement, canola, LPG, LNG, gasoline, gas oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were four ships viz. MSC Giulia, Le Haver, SSI Victory and African Pheasant carrying containers, and coal respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Pakistan International Bulk Terminal respectively on Monday.
There were two ships namely MSC Giulia and Le Haver carrying containers respectively due to arrive on Monday.
There is one ship namely Maersk Detroit carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday.
