ISLAMABAD: Another 40 cases of the Covid-19 have been reported in the federal Capital, the single highest increase in the city during the last 28 days.

Islamabad Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Hamza Shafqaat said in a tweet that the Covid-19 patients were on the rise in Islamabad.

We have traced each and every case in the city, he said, adding that in the recent surge 80 percent infection was spreading through hospitals; therefore, people needed to be careful, while visiting hospitals.

He said that the assistant commissioners were inspecting schools for checking of measures taken for adopting standard operating procedures (SOPs) devised for the Covid-19. Schools will be reopened from Tuesday (today), he said.

Meanwhile, the surveillance teams of the district health department have conducted visits of different schools and educated school staff on the SOPs for prevention and to limit the transmission of infection at school and its surroundings.

Another official said that violation of the SOPs at pharmacies, hospitals, grocery stores, vegetable shops, bakeries, milk and meat shops, and other businesses is another reason of increase in coronavirus cases in the city.

According to the official data, the number of confirmed Covid-19 cases have witnessed an increase as 40 cases were reported on September 14, 39 on September 12, 30 cases were reported on September 12, 28 on September 11, while there were 24 cases on September 10, 18 on September 9, 12 on September 8, 16 on September 7, and eight on September 8 in the capital city.
