KARACHI: Two employees of Karachi Development Authority (KDA) land department were shot dead while one other sustained injuries after a firing incident took place at the third floor of the Civic Centre building.

According to the police, assistant director (Land) of KDA Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Muhammad Wasim Usmani son of Saleem Usmani was shot dead, while a superintendent Hafeez son of Muhammad Haneef and an assistant director Waseem Raza son of Mohsin Naqvi sustained bullet wounds in the firing incident.

Waseem Raza later also succumbed to his injures. The bodies were shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for medico-legal formalities, while the injured was being treated at a private hospital at Stadium Road.

"The firing incident happened within the premises of the KDA land department," the police said without elaborating as to who was involved in it. They further said a weapon was also recovered from the office and a forensic examination would be carried out to ascertain facts into the case. SHO New Town Safdar Brohi did not receive phone, despite repeated attempts.
