KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 93,587 tonnes of cargo comprising 63,628 tonnes of import cargo and 29,959 tonnes of export cargo including 5,659 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday.

The total import cargos of 63,628 tonnes comprised of 36,830 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,873 tonnes of bulk cargo; 6,982 tonnes of DAP; 11,943 tonnes of wheat and 6,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 29,959 tonnes comprised of 20,964 tonnes of containerised cargo and 8,995 tonnes of clinker.

As many as 5,659 containers comprising of 2,835 containers import and 2,824 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 542 of 20's and 1,080 of 40's loaded while 133 of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 470 of 20's and 386 of 40's loaded containers while 198 of 20's and 692 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were seven ships namely Baltic Bridge, Esperanza-N, Ever Dainty, Dubai Charm, Doric Bridge, Port Canton and KSL Dan Yang carrying containers, oil tankers, clinker and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were seven vessels viz. Mayssan, Kota Kaya, OOCL Chicago, Petali Lady, FOS Spirit, Ince Ijgaz and Grace carrying containers, oil tankers, wheat and clinker respectively currently at the berths.

There is one ship namely Mayssan carrying containers expected to sail on Wednesday.

There are three vessels viz. Fpmc-29, Edison and Wieland carrying containers and oil tanker respectively due to arrive on Tuesday while nine more vessels viz. Saxonia, Al-Soor-II, Ginga Merlin, MT Karachi, DS Courage, Olympus, New Horizon, Stellar Hudson and Star Omicron carrying containers, oil tankers, DAP, wheat, talcum powder and rock phosphate respectively are expected due to arrive on Wednesday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 211,030 tonnes comprising 204,481 tonnes of import cargo and 9,549 tonnes of export cargo including 3,197 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

The total import cargo of 204,481 tonnes tonnes includes 61,470 tonnes of coal; 5,149 tonnes of LNG; 12,000 tonnes of palm oil; 16,433 tonnes of steel coil; 4,360 tonnes of canola; 49,000 tonnes of gas oil; 3,243 tonnes of chemical and 52,326 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 9,549 tonnes includes 1,132 tonnes of cement; 8,417 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 3,197 containers comprising of 2,754 containers import and 443 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

There were two ships namely YM Pacific and Ejnan carrying canola and LNG respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while five more ships namely MSC Giulia, Al-Bion Bay, Ocean Silver, Valos Sapphire and Chemroad Wing carrying containers, steel coil, coal, canola and palm oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of nine ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, steel coil, coal, cement, chemical, canola, LNG, gas oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as twenty vessels viz. Adames, Izumo, Great Pioneer, Star Lotus, Ocean Banquet, Osiris, Chemroad Sea, Bangiar Ag Radool, Hasan, Gas Arma, Tomson Gas, Gas Zous, Gas Amazon, Seri Balqis, Nord Venus, Cordula Jacob, Aponia, Nord Harmony, Songa Diamond and Torm Atlantic carrying general cargo, coal, cement, veg oil, LPG, gasoline, gas oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were six ships viz. Maersk Detroit, Ocean Banquet, Hasan, Gas Arma, Cordula Jacob and Songa Diamond carrying containers, coal, cement, LPG, gasoline and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, SSGC LPG Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Tuesday.

There was one ship namely Maersk Detroit carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday.
