- APRA has again given a three-day notice to foodpanda management and demanded some important conditions for resumption of services
(Karachi) Citing “unfair practices” as reasons, the All Pakistan Restaurant Association (APRA) continued suspension of business with mobile food delivery marketplace foodpanda in Karachi.
According to details, restaurants in the city suspended delivery services from foodpanda after they blamed it of using unjust conditions that were not acceptable by eatery business owners.
APRA has again given a three-day notice to foodpanda management and demanded some important conditions for resumption of services.
In a letter written to Foodpanda CEO, APRA Chairman Muhammad Naeem Siddiqui apprised the latter of members’ grievances and concerns, pointing out that foodpanda “repeatedly pressed for an increase in commission and made some important demands”.
He warned that if these conditions were not met , the foodpanda would be boycotted all over the country.
The conditions are:
- Restaurants should be allowed to deliver foodpanda orders directly through their own riders.
- There should be standardized commission structure for all brands.
- Customer data should be shared with restaurants.
- Restaurants should not be threatened with commission increases, otherwise they will be closed.
- Exclusive agreement should not be signed with any restaurant as it's against competition laws.
APRA chief further stated, " We will be willing to meet and discuss, in case foodpanda is interested in resolving the above issues face d by restaurant industry across the country.
