LAHORE: Punjab Government has approved 17 new posts of Head Nurses for the Punjab Institute of Neuro Sciences (PINS), for which a formal notification has also been issued. This was disclosed by Prof. Dr. Khalid Mahmood, Executive Director, and PINS. He said that the appointment of grade-17 Head Nurses would not only improve the nursing care but also the quality of treatment in the Institution and improve the ward management as well.

Nursing Superintendent PINS Razia Shamim told that new head nurses would be appointed in emergency ward, operation theatre, ICU and High Dependency Units for the provision of better healthcare facilities round the clock to the patients.

Prof. Dr. Khalid Mahmood said that PINS has a unique position in the treatment of head injury and neurosurgery diseases globally. He said that all possible steps are being taken to provide better medical facilities to the patients in this Institute and medical facilities are being provided to all the patients under one roof. ED "PINS" said that Provincial Health Minister has given the task of making Neuro Institute a model hospital and all the resources in this regard are being utilized.

Prof Dr. Khalid Mahmood further said that patients of traffic accidents and head injuries come here not only from Lahore but also from other provinces of the country. Similarly treatment is also provided for tumour patients through DBS for which people from other countries also get benefit from this Institute.

He said that the operations are being done 365 in emergency ward of Neuro Institute round the clock. He said that tumours are removed through endoscopy without opening the brain. Prof Mahmood said that MRI test facility for early diagnosis of patients available from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. so that patients do not have to face any difficulty.
