Three-day Summer Trade Fair II of women entrepreneurs concluded on Thursday with the resolve of the continuation of such healthy activities for the promotion of the business of skilled women. The three-day exhibition of the artistic and creative work of the women entrepreneurs was organised under the auspices of Women Business Development Centre (WBDC) in collaboration with Tourism Corporation of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (TCKP).
WBDC is an initiative of Smeda of the Ministry of Industries and Production. Secretary Tourism, KP, Jamal Nasir was the chief guest on the occasion. Those were included Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Small and Medium Enterprise Development Authority (Smeda) Khawar Khan, provincial chief, Javed Iqbal Khattak, Project Director, Women Business Development Centre (WBDC), Nabeela Farman, chairperson Women Chamber of Commerce & Industry, KP, Sajida Zulfikar and a large number of women entrepreneurs.
Addressing the ceremony Jamal Nasir said that the province during last several years had remained victim of militancy and terrorism. He said that the events of militancy have disfigured the positive image of the province and its people.
However, he said that such kind of positive activities will promote a message that the people of the province are peace loving, women are getting their due rights and play role in the economic development as well.
He said that the purpose of extending co-operation to the WBDC in organising the activity was to tell world that KP has cordial environment for promotion of business and tourism.
He especially mentioned the holding of the recent Shandur Festival, which he said was attended by people from different parts of the province.
Jamal Nasir said that through such activities they are spreading a message that they are peaceful people and this mission will be achieved only through organising such activities.
He appreciated the efforts of WBDC for holding such events and assured them full co-operation in carrying such healthy activities in future too. Speaking on the occasion, acting CEO, Smeda, Khawar Khan said that the authority is not only working for the promotion and development of women entrepreneurs, but of all kind of SMEs in the country. He said that initially they started work with chambers on the development of women entrepreneurs, which were facing several challenges.
WBDC, he said that is working for the development of women entrepreneurs since last two years and has facilitated more than 700 entrepreneurs. The centre, he said has also organised more than 14 exhibitions. Later, three best stall holders were given cash prizes of Rs10,000, Rs8,000 and Rs7,000 respectively.
