The Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) and Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) formally signed an MoU for boosting mutual relations, information sharing and extending co-operation in industrial and commercial sectors.
The two chambers signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in a ceremony held at the Nathia Gali. The document was signed by SCCI's president Afan Aziz and RCCI president Javed Akhtar Bhatti.
Leader of the Businessmen Forum Senator Ilyas Ahmad Bilour, SCCI's vice-president Ziaul Haq Sarhadi, Chairman of All Pakistan Textile Mills Association Mohsin Aziz and members of SCCI's executive body attended the ceremony.
RCCI's Najamul Haq Malik, vice-president Chaudhry Iqbal Ahmad, Chairman of All Pakistan Flour Mills Association Malik Iftikhar Ahmad Awan also participated.
SCCI chief Afan Aziz highlighted the importance of the MoU said that both chambers would share information regarding steps taken by the government for safeguarding the interest of the business community.
He also expressed the hope that the MoU would be helpful in bringing the business communities of the two provinces for redressing common issues.
He maintained that the agreement would also enhance mutual co-operation between the two chambers. Senator Ilyas Ahmad Bilour, who also once served as a president of Rawalpidi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, termed the agreement a good initiative and said that it would equally benefit both chambers.
RCCI President Javed Akhtar Bhatti termed the signing of the MoU a great milestone achievement and said that the Rawalpindi Chamber would cooperate with the Sarhad Chamber in the fields of research and development, besides helping out in international fairs.
Javed Akhtar also said that RCCI would also play its role to give proper representation at the centre. He added that SCCI representatives would be included in foreign delegations, adding that both the chambers would jointly work out for the betterment of the business community.
