ISLAMABAD: The civil society, lawyers and residents of Muzaffarabad have staged a protest against ongoing counterfeit cigarette trade in Azad Kashmir, which has serious health implications on youth and caused revenue loss to the Department of Inland Revenue, AJ&K and Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).
The protesters from the federal capital, who have joined the protest, informed the media that this is a first of its kind of large gathering against drug trafficking and the sale of such counterfeit cigarettes in Muzaffarabad. The illicit trade and movement of counterfeit/low quality cigarettes from AJK to the tariff areas of Pakistan must be stopped through enforcement and administrative measures by the concerned agencies including FBR, they added.
