Meet ‘Huawei Y9a’ – A complete midrange killer

Huawei’s Y Series is known for its flagship like features for a very suitable price hence why it’s so popular in Pakistan. The latest addition to their Y Series is the HUAWEI Y9a which we will be reviewing today.

The HUAWEI Y9a comes with a 64MP Main Camera, 8MP Ultra Wide Angle Lens, 2MP Depth Lens and a 2MP Macro Lens. The four cameras work together for the all-scenario (high resolution, ultra wide angle, bokeh, macro) photography experience. Overall the camera experience was crisp, clear and the photos turned out great. The night-mode on this device in particular really impressed us especially for this price bracket. The 64MP Main Camera equipped with a large 1/1.7-inch sensor and large aperture of f/1.8 really enables HUAWEI Y9a’s powerful night photography capabilities. On the front, the Y9a comes with a 16MP Pop-Up camera.

The first thing that really stood out for us was the super smart and sleek design. The Y9a comes with a classic Halo Ring design which was first seen on their flagship device - HUAWEI Mate 30. The symmetrical layout completes a pleasing design with exquisite craftsmanship demonstrating elegance and charm. Additionally, the colours available for this device are also quite unique and attractive. Y9a comes in Midnight Black, Space Silver which reminisces the night sky and finally Sakura Pink which resonates a softer, more feminine look and feel.

HUAWEI Y9a features a two-in-one fingerprint reader and power button which was super-fast and smooth. This smartphone completely eliminates the notch area with a pop-up camera and a 6.63-inch display which provides a massive screen-to-body ratio of 92.02% allowing for a truly immersive viewing experience.

Finally, the 4200mAh (typical value) large battery provides extended support while its 40W HUAWEI SuperCharge technology provides 70% charge-up with only a 30-minutes charging session. It comes with EMUI 10.1 with HUAWEI AppGallery pre-installed which is Huawei’s official app marketplace. It has many apps however, in case that’s not enough they have also introduced their own search tool – Petal Search Widget which is one of three ways in which Huawei users can find and download millions of apps on to their HMS devices, alongside AppGallery and Phone Clone. Simply use it directly from the home screen of your device.
