ISLAMABAD: Contrary to Islamabad police high-up's claims that the crime rate witnessed decline in the city, auto thieves stole over 19 vehicles, including bikes, and robbers, burglars struck at 18 different places and made off with cash and valuables worth millions of rupees during the last week.

According to the data gathered by Business Recorder during the last week, carjackers stole or snatched 19 vehicles including motor bikes from different localities of the city.

In the same time, over 18 cases of various kinds of thefts including robbery, dacoity, and snatching at gunpoint were reported to various police stations of the city.

Similarly, two persons were murdered and five persons were kidnapped from the various parts of the city.

In the same period, most favorite areas for the criminal gangs were within the limits of Golra, Koral, Sihala, Lohi Bher, and Shams Colony police stations.

During the last week, Golra Police Station registered one case each of snatching at gunpoint and two cases of auto theft.

Asad Ullah lodged a complaint with Golra Police Station that three armed persons snatched his bike bearing registration number IMK-6114 and cash of Rs80,000 at gunpoint.

Sadique Ali informed Golra Police Station that unidentified robbers stole cash and mobile phone worth Rs500,000.

Auto thieves stole a bike bearing registration number SGM-6262 worth Rs35,000, and lifted a car bearing registration number ANK-296 belonging to Akhtar Ali worth Rs2,500,000.

Three cases of auto theft, one case of robbery, and a case of daocity were reported to Sabzi Mandi Police Station during the last week.

Zeeshan informed Sabzi Mandi Police Station that unidentified persons stole 14 batteries worth Rs300,000 from the mobile phone towers.

Another Sulman Akbar registered a complaint with Sabzi Mandi Police Station that four armed persons entered into his house, and looted cash and gold ornament worth Rs50,000.

Auto thieves stole a car bearing registration number RIX-2695 worth Rs250,000, lifted a car bearing registration number AGZ-461 belonging to Umer Farooq worth Rs1,200,000 and lifted a bike RIM-307 belonging to Nosheer Ali worth Rs50,000.

In the same period, Sihala Police Station registered three cases of carjacking and one case of dacoity. Tariq lodged a complaint with Sihala Police Station that five unidentified armed dacoits stormed into his house, and looted cash, and gold ornament at gunpoint.
