KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 295,008 tonnes of cargo comprising 181,497 tonnes of import cargo and 113,511 tonnes of export cargo including 6,360 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday.
The total import cargos of 181,497 tonnes comprised of 79,498 tonnes of containerised cargo; 21,822 tonnes of DAP; 20,882 tonnes of wheat; 16,000 tonnes of rock phosphate and 43,295 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 113,511 tonnes comprised of 47,230 tonnes of containerised cargo; 53,910 tonnes of clinkers and 12,371 tonnes of loose bulk cement.
As many as 6,360 containers comprising of 3,861 containers import and 2,499 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 868 of 20's and 1,376 of 40's loaded while 07 of 20's and 117 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 675 of 20's and 240 of 40's loaded containers while 854 of 20's and 245 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were eight ships namely Botany Bay, YM Cosmos, Northern Dedication, MT Quetta, Trugen, SC Falcon, Olympus and Crown Virtue carrying containers, oil tankers, chemical, wheat and clinkers respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were eleven vessels viz. Conti Courage, Wan Hai-613, MSC Cheryl-3, Kapitan Maslov, Esperanza-N, Trugen, Straum, Star Omicron, Canadian Highway and Rowan-3 carrying containers, oil tankers, wheat, vehicle and clinkers respectively currently at the berths.
There are four ships namely Conti Courage, Esperanza-N, Jag Aanchal and Canadian Highway carrying containers, mogas and vehicle to sail on Monday.
There are four vessels viz. MOL Generosity, CMA CGM Moliere, DS Courage and Yu Jin Ace carrying containers, oil tanker and steel respectively due to arrive on Monday while seven vessels viz. KMTC Mumbai, Hyundai Platinum, Chesapeake Bay, Xin Pu Dong, Chem Argon, Yu Jin Ace, Tai Splendor, Da Tong Yun and Aal Kobe carrying containers, steel, clinkers and project cargo respectively are expected due to arrive on Tuesday.
PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 162,391 tonnes comprising 153,385 tonnes of import cargo and 9,006 tonnes of export cargo including 3,934 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The total import cargo of 153,385 tonnes tonnes includes 33,000 tonnes of coal; 58,328 tonnes of LNG; 8,000 tonnes of palm oil; 4,319 tonnes of palm kernel; 35,871 tonnes of gasoline; 2,790 tonnes of LPG and 41,876 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 9,006 tonnes includes 9,006 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 3,934 containers comprising of 2,204 containers import and 1,730 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
There was one ship namely MOL Generosity carrying containers sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while three more ships namely SBI Hermes, Gas Amazon and Nord Venus carrying coal, LPG and gasoline respectively expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of eight ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, LPG, LNG, gasoline and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as fourteen vessels viz. Ginga Jaguar, Dalong Yun, Ithoni, Valkyie, Msxt Astria, Happy Kosirel, Than Binh-127, Aquila Ocean, Gas Amazon, Fuwairit, Gulf Coast, Leader, Al-Soor-II and Melody carrying containers, general cargo, coal, chemical, cement, canola, LPG, LNG, gasoline, gas oil and furnace oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were seven ships viz. MSC Paris, MSC Cheryl, America, Aquila Ocean, Happy Kosirel, Fuwarit and Melody carrying containers, canola, chemical, LNG and furnace oil expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Grains and Fertilizer Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal, Engro Elengy Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Monday.
There were three ships namely MSC Paris, MSC Cheryl and America carrying containers due to arrive on Monday while another ship namely Maersk Columbus carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday.
