ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb said that inflation has increased tremendously in last two years in the country and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) government has surrendered before sugar, drug and flour mafia.
Addressing a news conference here on Sunday, the PML-N Spokesperson said that the lives of the people are in miserable condition due to price hike and they are paying the price of an 'incompetent government'.
"An incompetent government has been imposed over us and people are paying the price of it. The government is filling the pockets of mafia and public is drowning in misery," she said.
She said that rates of vegetables, fruits, flour, medicines and other eatable items have increased tremendously in last two years.
"The prices of vegetables have increased by 45% in one year. A bag of 20 kg flour is being sold at Rs. 1100. The prices of tomatoes, potatoes, ginger, rice and spices have also doubled," she said.
She said that the price of sugar has been increased from Rs 70 per Kg to Rs 110 per Kg from last two years in the country while sugar mafia has escaped abroad.
PML-N Spokesperson also lashed out at government for increasing the rates of medicines by 400%. "The government has surrendered in front of mafia. There is no department or institution which is not corrupt," she added.
She claimed that it is not priority of the PTI government to address the issues of inflation, unemployment and economy but to suppress every voice which is raised against it. Criticizing the PTI government, she said that cabinet meetings are held only to penalize opposition parties.
She said, "The Global Fund, a Geneva-based international financing and partnership organization, has expressed dissatisfaction over the utilization of its grants in Pakistan to fight tuberculosis, AIDS and malaria and decided to invoke special measures to ensure "accountable use" of the funds. The Fund has placed $ 271 million in its Additional Safeguard Policy (ASP)."
"Rented PTI spokespersons are hurling accusations at PML-N since yesterday. The whole public knows that a corrupt and incompetent party has been imposed over us. They are accusing former prime minister Nawaz Sharif of treason after failing to accuse him of corruption," she said.
