Punjab Minister for Irrigation Malik Ahmad Ali claimed here on Friday that the provincial irrigation department has completed fool proof arrangements to meet any possible flood situation. Continuous monitoring after repair of dykes is under way and all the departments including agriculture, irrigation, livestock and forests are on high alert.
These views were expressed by him after reviewing the arrangements to meet any flood, improvement in flood protection structure and strengthening of dykes and protection bands in the province.
While talking to journalists he said that the Punjab government is taking steps to meet any flood situation on priority basis to save masses from any loss. He said all the protection bands, dykes and barrages were being inspected from Mianwali to Rahim Yar Khan by the Irrigation staff and other related departments. He said immediate orders were being issued to remove any issues. He also asked the irrigation department to take full benefit of resources provided by the Punjab government for flood protection.
