ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Monday reviewed the progress on inquires against Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman and two leaders of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Ameer Muqam and Capitan Muhammad Safdar (retd), over their alleged assets beyond known sources of income.

An official said that the Bureau reviewed progress of inquiries against Fazlur Rehman, Muqam, Safdar, and former minister Sher Azam Wazir during an Executive Board Meeting (EBM) presided over by the NAB Chairman former Justice Javed Iqbal, and also other senior officials of the bureau.

The NAB, on September 29, announced that an inquiry against the JUI-F chief is continuing in the NAB's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has been holding an inquiry against the JUI-F chief over alleged assets beyond known sources of income.

Besides holding inquiry against Fazlur Rehman, the NAB has also been conducting inquiry against his younger brother, Ziaur Rehman, for alleged assets beyond known sources of income and misuse of power by making illegal appointments. The NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has also been conducting an inquiry against Muqam for the alleged accumulation of assets beyond known sources of income.

Similarly, the NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has also summoned Safdar to appear on October 8th in assets beyond means case. He said that the EBM also approved an investigation against the officers and officials of the Bank of Khyber (BoK) Peshawar for alleged 103 illegal appointments at the bank.
