KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 172,892 tonnes of cargo comprising 114,235 tonnes of import cargo and 58,657 tonnes of export cargo including 6,633 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday.

The total import cargos of 114,235 tonnes comprised of 48,611 tonnes of containerised cargo; 18,077 tonnes of bulk cargo; 7,997 tonnes of wheat and 39,550 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 58,657 tonnes comprised of 32,042 tonnes of containerised cargo and 26,615 tonnes of clinkers.

As many as 6,633 containers comprising of 3,337 containers import and 3,296 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 975 of 20’s and 1,115 of 40’s loaded while 106 of 20’s and 13 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 618 of 20’s and 788 of 40’s loaded containers while 556 of 20’s and 273 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were seven ships namely OEL Kedarnath, Xin Pu Dong, Isobel, Diyala, Thorsky, OEL Kedarnath, DM Jade and Ince Kastamonu carrying containers, chemical and wheat respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were three vessels viz. Cape Fortius, Ningbo Express and MOL Globe carrying containers respectively currently at the berths.

There are four ships namely Ningbo Express, Ubena, Avanti and Adastar carrying containers, mogas and general cargo respectively to sail on Tuesday.

There are six vessels viz. OOCL Guangzhou, Rome Express, Hyundai Privilege, Pacific Sarah, Alrayan and Da Tong Yun carrying containers mogas, clinkers and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Tuesday while five vessels viz. Carl Schulte, MSC Chiara, MT Quetta, Lime Galaxy and Haut Brion carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical and general cargo respectively are expected due to arrive on Wednesday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 159,427 tonnes comprising 149,186 tonnes of import cargo and 10,241 tonnes of export cargo including 2,840 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

The total import cargo of 149,186 tonnes tonnes includes 57,695 tonnes of coal; 4,290 tonnes of LNG; 5,962 tonnes of palm oil; 762 tonnes of palm kernel; 734 tonnes of project cargo; 36,024 tonnes of gas oil and 43,719 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 10,241 tonnes includes 10,241 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 2,840 containers comprising of 2,301 containers import and 539 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

There were four ships namely MSC Lavvish, SSI Triumph, Kano and Barnara carrying containers, coal, LNG and palm oil respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while three more ships namely MSC Heidi, Thor Insui and Al-Soor-II carrying containers, coal and gas oil respectively expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of seven ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, general cargo, coal, canola, LNG and gas oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as fifteen vessels viz. MSC Esthi, Global Rose, Manta Asli, SBI Achillos, Star Hercules, Singapore Eagle, African Starling, Greenwich Park, Gas Athena, White Purl, Gulf Coast, Leader, Al-Soor-II, Gulf Pearl and Chemroad Ecco carrying containers, steel coil, coal, cement, chemical, LPG, gasoline, gas oil, condensate and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were seven ships viz. Maersk Denver, MSC Esthi, Manta Asli, Singapore Eagle, Greenwich Park, Leader and Chemroad Ecco carrying containers, coal, chemical, gasoline and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Tuesday.

There were two ships namely Maersk Denver and Alidi Wave carrying containers respectively due to arrive on Tuesday while two more ships namely Aria Zircon and Gaslog Shuogho carrying coal and LNG respectively are due to arrive on Wednesday.
