ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister’s Special Representative for Afghanistan Ambassador Mohammad Sadiq (retired) called on Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Tuesday, and updated him on the ongoing intra-Afghan negotiations being held in Doha.
During the meeting, the Foreign Office said that detailed discussions were held on peace and stability in the region, including the Afghan peace process.
It stated that the Special Representative for Afghanistan gave a detailed briefing to the foreign minister on the current state of the Afghan peace process.
He also appraised the Foreign minister about the current status of the ongoing intra-Afghan negotiation in Doha.
“The success of intra-Afghan negotiation could prove to be an important milestone for lasting peace in Afghanistan,” Foreign Minister Qureshi said, adding that peace and stability in the region depend on a peaceful solution to the Afghan conflict.
He said that Pakistan by fulfilling its responsibility would continue its sincere, conciliatory efforts for peace and stability in the region.
