KARACHI: Pakistan Stock Exchange Tuesday witnessed a mixed trend, however closed on a positive note due to select buying by local investors at the fag end.

BRIndex100 gained 12.15 points or 0.3 percent to close at 4,039.17 points. BRIndex100 hit intraday high of 4,062.36 and intraday low of 3,969.49 points. Volumes stood at 377.913 million shares.

BRIndex30 inched up by 72.13 points or 0.36 percent to close at 20,296.27 points with a turnover of 266.447 million shares.

The KSE-100 Index closed at 39,127.48 points, up 55.01 points or 0.14 percent. Daily trading volumes on the ready counter stood at 406.036 million shares as compared to 409.945 million shares traded Monday.

Foreign investors remained on the selling side and withdrew $3.057 million from Pakistan capital market. Total market capitalization increased by Rs 16 billion to Rs 7.348 trillion. Out of total 400 active scrips, 236 closed in positive and 146 in negative while the value of 18 stocks remained unchanged.

Hascol Petroleum was the volume leader with 78.202 million shares however lost Rs 0.22 to close at Rs 15.85 followed by Unity Foods that gained Rs 0.78 to close at Rs 14.76 with 36.809 million shares. Sapphire Fiber and Hinopak Motor were the top gainers increasing by Rs 50.05 and Rs 39.50 respectively to close at Rs 732.05 and Rs 704.32 while Nestle Pakistan and Service Ind. Limited were the top losers declining by Rs 82.50 and Rs 30.78 respectively to close at Rs 6517.50 and Rs 710.75.

BR Automobile Assembler Index lost 38.53 points or 0.54 percent to close at 7,140.64 points with total turnover of 4.645 million shares.

BR Cement Index increased by 36.08 points or 0.66 percent to close at 5,512.64 points with 32.902 million shares.

BR Commercial Banks Index closed at 8,106.19 points, down 11.44 points or 0.14 percent with 18.739 million shares.

BR Power Generation and Distribution Index inched up by 7.1 points or 0.15 percent to close at 4,600.26 points with 22.527 million shares.

BR Oil and Gas Index decreased by 11.07 points or 0.29 percent to close at 3,775.65 points with 88.045 million shares.

BR Tech. & Comm. Index gained 2.13 points or 0.13 percent to close at 1,599.69 points with 46.604 million shares.

An analyst at Darson Securities said that the local equity bourse closed on optimistic note as the KSE-100 Index rebounded 55.01 points from the preceding day trading session dreadful activities.

Trading kicked off in the flattish note the KSE-100 touched intra-day low of 38,568.95 levels. Later the day huge buying seen at lower level the KSE-100 Index hit intra-day high of 39,349.29 levels in the consequence of sharp recovery in global equity market and highly oversold on technical charts.
