Admiral Amjad Khan Niazi assumes charge of Pakistan Navy
- He is succeeding Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi.
Admiral Amjad Khan Niazi assumed charge of the Pakistan Navy on Wednesday a day after Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi retired.
The outgoing naval chief formally handed over the command by presenting the traditional scroll to Admiral Niazi at a ceremony held at PNS Zafar, Islamabad. A guard of honour was presented to the outgoing and incoming naval chiefs at the ceremony.
In his farewell address, the outgoing naval chief said he was honored that he was given the charge of the navy.
He also congratulated Admiral Niazi on being appointed the new chief of the naval staff.
Admiral Niazi was commissioned in Operations Branch of Pakistan Navy in 1985. He has served on various command and staff posts.
The naval chief is a recipient of Hilal-i-Imtiaz (Military) and Sitara-i-Basalat.
