Foundation for Rehabilitation and Education of Slow Children (FRESH) organised a seminar on the completion of Pakistan Association for Difficulties in Learning (PADIL) awareness campaign about the slow learners facing Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD) and Dyslexia here at Al-Hamra Hall on Friday.
Social scientists, educationists, businessmen and government functionaries attended the seminar and appreciated the efforts made by FRESH in promoting the cause of slow learners.
Speakers including former President Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) Yawar Irfan, columnist Hassan Nisar and others urged the civil society to become member of PADIL to help save the slow learners from failure due to widespread unawareness of society about learning difficulties. Secretary-General FERSH Ashba Kamran said on the occasion that dedicated volunteers of PADIL from leading institutions including Aitchison, International School of Choueifat, LUMS and LGS are reaching out important public figures from different walks of life to apprise them of the activities of PADIL. She said the PADIL members also set up a stall in a recently-held education expo in the city where the visitors were invited to become member. So far, 1,000 new members have joined PADIL and more are interested to become part of it and raise awareness in society about the slow learners, she added. Ashba Kamran said FRESH is running chain of schools called Green Meadows in Lahore, Rawalpindi and Sargodha. A large number of students have so far been educated and trained by the FRESH who are successfully working with leading multinationals and food chains at present, she added.
