ISLAMABAD: Former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Wednesday asked the federal ministers from the ruling party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to become witnesses in sedition case against Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) leaders while saying that he would “try to register a case against Prime Minister Imran Khan in view of the recent allegations levelled by former director general of FIA (Federal Investigation Agency) Bashir Memon.”

“They (government) have registered a sedition case against PML-N leaders. I also want to get a case registered. I will go to Lahore tomorrow and go to Shahdara; my FIR will be against PM Imran Khan,” the PML-N leader said in a news conference in Islamabad.

“Now they (government) officials claim that PM Imran Khan was unaware of the registration of sedition case. Yes, he was unaware, like he is totally unaware of what is going on in the country. He is totally unaware of skyrocketing flour and sugar prices. He is unaware of everything and his government is failing masses with each passing day.”

Talking about the sedition case registered against Nawaz Sharif and other leaders, Abbasi challenged the ministers “distributing certificates of treachery” to become witnesses in the case. He also asked where were the ministers that were distributing those certificates when it came time to defend the case.

The PML-N leader further challenged the ministers to come forward and arrest the suspects in the case, asking the government to do an open trial in front of the people of Pakistan.

Abbasi asked the ministers not to distribute certificates of treachery and solve the problems of the people.

He repeated the allegation levelled by Memon that PM Khan asked him to register cases against PML-N leader Khawaja Asif under Article 6 of the Constitution. Abbasi said he would try to get a case registered against PM.
