FAISALABAD: State-of-the-art Expo Centre and other institutions would be established in addition to improving the basic and fundamental infrastructure to make Faisalabad an important industrial, commercial and business hub of South Asia, said Chaudhary Muhammad Sarwar Governor Punjab.
He was talking to a delegation of Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry that met him under the leadership of Engineer Hafiz Ihtasham Javed President FCCI. He said that a number of uplift projects are under consideration for the integrated, comprehensive and futuristic development of Faisalabad. In this connection, he will exploit his influence for the establishment of IT university and world class Expo Centre.
Continuing Governor Punjab said that serious efforts are being made to contain inflation and hopefully people will harvest the positive benefits of Government policies very soon. He assured to take up the issue to provide electricity to the industrial sector at 9 cents per unit.
"I shall personally request the FBR and other concerned departments to remove unnecessary hurdles as he was himself present during the meeting in which this decision was made'' he added.
Governor said that the Government is already focusing on the Industrial sector in order to strengthen the national economy. He said that agriculture is one of the most important segments of economy while decline in cotton production is a matter of serious concern.
He supported the demand of disease resistant and high yielding cotton seed and said that he will take concerned departments into confidence for the immediate import of quality cotton seed and nailing down the seed mafia providing fake seeds.
Earlier Engineer Ihtasham Javed formally invited the Governor to visit FCCI so that the business community could discuss their issues directly with him. He said that the Government had agreed in principle to provide electricity to the industrial sector at 9 cents per unit.
This agreement was made in the presence of the Governor and hence he should intervene to materialize this agreement. He said that FESCO is waiting for a proper notification to bill at the rate of 9 cent per unit. He also highlighted various issues relating to Faisalabad and said that we could gear up national export by resolving these issues on top priority basis.
The meeting was also attended by Federal Parliamentary Secretary Mian Farrukh Habib, Senior Vice President Chaudhary Talat Mahmood, Vice President Rana Ayub Aslam Manj , Ex President Rana Sikandar Azam, Engineer Babar Shahzad, Rana Fayyaz, Rana Ikramullah Khan, Saeed Iqbal and Habib ur Rehman Gill.-PR
