Punjab makes it mandatory for sugarcane growers to use banks for payments
- The cane commissioner said that sugarcane farmers would be protected by paying through banks, so they should open bank accounts near the mills in their areas.
The Government of Punjab has made it mandatory for sugarcane growers to receive payments through banks.
As per details, the decision to make payments to farmers through banks during the crushing season has been taken by amending the Sugar Factories Control Act, 1950 informed Cane Commissioner Punjab Zaman Wattoo.
The cane commissioner said that sugarcane farmers would be protected by paying through banks, so they should open bank accounts near the mills in their areas.
He said that payment through banks would eliminate the problems of the farmers like middle man while the farmers would be able to get the full amount on time.
