KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 133,336 tonnes of cargo comprising 80,641 tonnes of import cargo and 52,695 tonnes of export cargo including 4,355 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday.

The total import cargos of 80,641 tonnes comprised of 39,585 tonnes of containerised cargo; 11,583 tonnes of bulk cargo; 5,930 tonnes of wheat and 23,543 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 52,695 tonnes comprised of 21,579 tonnes of containerised cargo and 31,116 tonnes of clinkers.

As many as 4,355 containers comprising of 2,791 containers import and 1,564 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 725 of 20's and 1,015 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 18 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 371 of 20's and 234 of 40's loaded containers while 31 of 20's and 347 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were seven ships namely Carl Schulte, MSC Chiara, Moen Island, MT Shalamar, Mariann, Eships Progress and Tai Splendor carrying containers, oil tanker, mogas and clinkers respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were six vessels viz. MT Quetta, Athina-III, Jin Tao, Grace, Sti Uranus and Haut Brion carrying oil tanker, wheat, clinker, tug and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

There is one ship namely Da Tung Yun carrying general cargo to sail on Friday.

There are three vessels viz. As Sophia, Ginga Lynx and Sea Power carrying containers, oil tanker and chemical respectively due to arrive on Saturday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 272,765 tonnes comprising 247,437 tonnes of import cargo and 25,328 tonnes of export cargo including 3,666 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Friday.

The total import cargo of 247,437 tonnes tonnes includes 53,049 tonnes of coal; 84,848 tonnes of LNG; 8,000 tonnes of palm oil; 38,000 tonnes of mogas; 2,753 tonnes of LPG; 10,000 tonnes of wheat and 50,787 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 25,328 tonnes includes 6,461 tonnes of cement and 18,867 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 3,666 containers comprising of 2,673 containers import and 993 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.

There was one ship namely Singapore Eagle carrying coal sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while four ships namely Alidi Wave, White Purl, Gaslog Shanghai and Leader carrying containers, LPG, LNG and gasoline respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of thirteen ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement, coal, wheat, LPG, LNG, mogas and palm kernel respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as thirteen vessels viz. Maersk Jalan, Parnassos, Oriole, SBI Achillos, Soho Mandate, Jolius Oldendroff, Chemroad Queen, Gas Athena, Gas Zeus, Cool Explorer, Gulf Coast, Al-Salam-II and Gulf Pearl carrying containers, coal, cement, wheat, LPG, LNG, gasoline, gas oil and condensate respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were five ships viz. Maersk Jalan, Oriole, SBI Achillos, Chemroad Queen and Gulf Coast carrying containers, coal, chemical and gasoline respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Friday.

There was one ship namely George Washington carrying containers due to arrive on Friday while two ships namely Esperanza-N and Tiger Winter carrying containers and chemical respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.

There is one ship namely MSC Jasmine carrying containers due to arrive on Sunday.
