KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 147,743 tonnes of cargo comprising 97,515 tonnes of import cargo and 50,228 tonnes of export cargo including 6,898 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday.

The total import cargos of 97,515 tonnes comprised of 54,067 tonnes of containerised cargo; 8,803 tonnes of bulk cargo; 8,173 tonnes of wheat and 26,472 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 50,228 tonnes comprised of 35,099 tonnes of containerised cargo; 8,121 tonnes of clinkers and 7,008 tonnes of cement.

As many as 6,898 containers comprising of 3,874 containers import and 3,024 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,120 of 20's and 1,332 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 45 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 949 of 20's and 435 of 40's loaded containers while 139 of 20's and 533 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were five ships namely Kapitan Maslov, Greenwich Bridge, Navig8 Sol, Ginga Lynx and Jin Tao carrying containers, oil tankers and clinker respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were eight vessels viz. As Sara, CMA CGM Titus, Hyundai Colombo, Greenwich Bridge, Ital Lirica, Pacific Sarah, Pacific Endeavor and Mohar carrying containers, oil tankers and cement respectively currently at the berths.

There are three ships namely CMA CGM Titus, Pacific Endeavor and Sea Power carrying containers, oil tanker and chemical respectively to sail on Tuesday.

There are three vessels viz. OEL Kedarnath, Erving and Eemslift Dafne carrying containers and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Tuesday while five vessels viz. KMTC Dubai, Ever Ursula, Xin Hong Kong, MT Lahore and Lucky Trader carrying containers, oil tanker and sugaro respectively are expected due to arrive on Wednesday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 131,752 tonnes comprising 112,717 tonnes of import cargo and 19,035 tonnes of export cargo including 3,119 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

The total import cargo of 112,717 tonnes tonnes includes 24,183 tonnes of coal; 22,775 tonnes of gas oil; 2,600 tonnes of mogas; 10,206 tonnes of wheat; 9,500 tonnes of chemical and 43,453 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 19,035 tonnes includes 2,024 tonnes of cement, 1,203 tonnes of steel coil and 15,808 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 3,119 containers comprising of 2,287 containers import and 832 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

There was one ship namely MSC Jasmine carrying containers sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while four ships namely MSC Busan, Soho Mandala, Africa Sterling and Al-Salam-II carrying containers, coal, cement and gasoline respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of twelve ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement, coal, chemical, wheat. LPG, gas oil and palm kernel respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as seventeen vessels viz. Xin Hong Kong, Symil, Jeppesen Maersk, Kiran Caribbean, Bright Imabari, Star Hercules, Sweet Melissa, Oriental Freesia, Ali Ki Force, Gas Athena, Gas Zeus, Gas Amazon, Cool Explorer, Colar Ice, Gulf Pearl, Norstar Invictus and Antigoni carrying containers, coal, chemical, soyabean, talcum powder, LPG, LNG, mogas, condensate and palm kernel respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were four ships viz. Symil, Maersk Kinloss, Colar Ice and MT Karachi carrying containers, LNG and gas oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Engro Elengy Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Tuesday.

There are two ships namely Africa Tinaco and MT Karachi carrying cement and gas oil respectively due to arrive on Tuesday while another ship namely X-Press Guernsey carrying containers due to arrive on Wednesday.
