LAHORE: With 1772 active cases of Covid-19 in the province, as many as 122 fresh coronavirus cases and six deaths were reported in Punjab during the last 25 hours, taking the provincial tally to 101,014 corona cases and 2270 deaths so far.

With 13 more recoveries, the total number of recovered patients from Covid-19 virus has reached to 96972. During the last 24 hours, 11072 tests were conducted of coronavirus taking the tally of tests to 1396005.

Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar, in a statement said that an increase in corona patients has been witnessed during the first two weeks of October. The people should avoid visiting congested places besides following corona SOPs. Citizens’ cooperation is utmost necessary to stop the spread of corona, he added.

Chief Secretary Jawad Rafique Malik presented a cheque worth Rs1200 million to Chief Minister for ‘CM Fund for Corona Control.’

In this regard, the CM appreciated the philanthropic passion of the government employees as they have set an example of sacrifice for the ailing humanity.

Punjab Governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar told media, here on Wednesday that ‘Corona Heroes,’ who have shown outstanding performance during the corona crisis, will be given the ‘Shaan-e-Pakistan Award’ in a ceremony to be held in Governor’s House, Lahore by the end of current month. President of Pakistan, Dr Arif Alvi, Provincial Governors, Chief Minister Punjab and President Azad Kashmir will also attend.

The Governor said that “Shaan Pakistan Award” will be awarded to those who have worked in various fields including providing assistance to poor families and providing health facilities.

To a question, he said that a special ‘Corona Heroes Wall’ has been prepared at Governor’s House on which the names of all Corona Heroes will be inscribed and this wall will be unveiled on October 27 and those who have played a constructive role during the corona crisis will always be remembered. A “Quran-e-Pak Garden” is also being constructed along with wall and the garden will be planted with fruits and plants mention in the Holy Quran and work on this garden is in full swing.

Sarwar further said there are still dangers with regard to corona, so it is necessary that precautionary measures being taken by the government to prevent its spread.
