Govt allows PDM to hold rally in Gujranwala's Jinnah Stadium tomorrow
- The opposition parties were granted permission following successful negotiations with the local administration
(Karachi) The Gujranwala district administration has granted permission to Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), an alliance of all opposition parties, to hold a rally at Jinnah Stadium in Gujranwala on October 16 (tomorrow), media reported on Wednesday.
The opposition parties were granted permission following successful negotiations with the local administration. Matters related to Covid-19 SOPs, security situation and other issues are under discussion.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) had sought permission from the local administration to hold rally in Gujranwala on October 16.
Earlier, the Pakistan Democratic Movement decided that it will hold its public rally on GT Road in Gujranwala on October 16 at all costs after the government turned down its request for public gathering in Jinnah Stadium.
In a press conference on Wednesday, former premier Shahid Khaqan Abbasi announced that the government did not gave permission to hold rally in Jinnah Stadium, therefore the PDM will now hold rally on GT Road.
He said the PDM will hold a historic public gathering. Neither the police nor the containers could stop them from holding rallies, he remarked.
He maintained that the government has failed to provide relief to the people. He said that inflation and joblessness has made lives of people miserable while there has been a drastic increase in poverty in the country.
