ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed the concerned department and authorities to make the process for issuance of No Objection Certificates (NOCs) in construction sector, transparent, easy and speedy to facilitate investors, while a delegation of industrialists presented proposals for increase in exports, promotion of industry, and to reform the tax system.

The premier was chairing a meeting of the National Coordination Committee on Housing, Construction and Development Thursday that was given briefing by the Federal Board of Revenue about online registration system and awareness seminars at Lahore, Karachi and federal capital were held to sensitise the people.

The chairman FBR informed that prime minister said that over 112 companies related to construction sector have got themselves registered with the FBR to work on 123 projects.

The chief secretary Sindh apprised the meeting that "One Window Portal" has been made operational, and 19 projects were given approval, whereas, NOC have been issued for 75 projects.

The chief secretary further informed the meeting that a committee had been notified with members from the private sector to monitor the projects.

The chief secretary Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa apprised the meeting that the total investment in housing and construction projects in the province had reached Rs83 billion and a significant increase in the same of cement, bricks and iron.

The governor State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) informed the meeting that consultation process with all the private banks with respect to easy installments of soft loans had been completed, and their reservations had been removed.

The prime minister also held a meeting with the delegation of investors and submitted proposals to increase exports, promotion of industry and to reform the tax system.

The prime minister said that the government wanted to incentivise industrialists and the business community as well as ease of doing business for them.

He said that growth in industry would create employment opportunities and foreign exchange reserves through exports, and emphasised the need to links between industry and universities for research and training.

The prime minister also issued directives to the FBR on the suggestion submitted by the delegation.
