Chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, Maulana Fazlur Rahman on Saturday said that holding early elections will not be a huge cost for sake of democracy adding that conspiracies are being hatched to derail democracy in the country.
He said that the judiciary needs to play impartial to avoid any personal confrontation, adding all the decisions were being made by the Corps Commander in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He added that there wasn't any active role of the Governor and Chief Minister in decision making process
Addressing a Dastar Bandi (a religious gathering) here at provincial metropolis, he said that military operations are not the solution of the problems, but peace should be established by peace means. He said that situation is heading towards personal clashes, and in such circumstances the judiciary should remain impartial instead of becoming party, he added.
Though, he welcomed the appointment of renowned jurist Justice Fakhrud Din G Ebrahim (retd) as new Chief Election Commissioner, he, however, said that that he (Ebrahim) in this portion of live will not be able to appropriately understand the complications of existing election system. Fakhrud Din is an honourable person, he added.
About the resumption of Nato supply routes, he said that the reopening of Nato logistic supplies could not stop the US drone strikes because those who can authority to stop it, have given permission to do so, he blamed.
To a question, he replied that if the powerful establishment didn't harm his party, then no body can harm them, he challenged. He also condemned sectarianism in the country, and alleged that secret agencies are supporting and promoting these groups for their personal gains. In Malakand division and Swat, he maintained that security forces are still there and all the decisions were being taken by the military establishment instead of civil administration. He said that there are secret hands behind the worsening law and order situation in the country, he added. He also questioned that no body knows that what will be happened in the coming days?
JUI-Chief also strongly condemned the obscenity and vulgarity in the US consulate, in which certain leaders of a political party also participated. He added that vulgarity and obscenity are being promoted in the name of independence, and against which we will raise voice, he remarked.
