5.6 magnitude earthquake jolts KP
- The depth of the earthquake was 242 kilometers with epicentre in Hindukush mountain range in Afghanistan
(Karachi) A 5.6 magnitude earthquake jolted different cities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) including Sibi, Swat, Lower Dir, Shangla and its suburban parts on Friday, media reported.
The Meteorological Department said the depth of the earthquake was 242 kilometers with epicentre in Hindukush mountain range in Afghanistan. However, there were no reports of casualties or damage to property.
Earlier, earthquake tremors of magnitude 4.6 jolted parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with no damage to property or life. Tremors were felt in Mardan, Shangla and surrounding areas.
The epicentre of the quake was in Hindukush region in Afghanistan with a depth of 150-kilometre.
