The Punjab Agriculture Department has asked cotton growers to check weather conditions before watering the crop. A spokesman of the department said on Saturday that farmers should make timely arrangements to drain rainwater from fields. He said that if it was not possible to drain out the water from cotton fields, they should dig the land and store water in it.
He also advised the farmers to use nitrogen fertiliser keeping in view the condition of the crop and land fertility.
