The PIA flight PK 749 of 13 July operated with B 777 aircraft on the route Islamabad-Milan-Paris-Islamabad suffered damage during offloading of baggage at Milan Airport. A PIA spokesman said here on Saturday that the aircraft arrived in Milan at 1743 hours and was parked on Bay number 505.
He said that the normal ground handling was in progress. The handling included baggage/cargo loading/offloading, catering, fuelling and cleaning. The PIA spokesman added, while offloading baggage, the ground handling staff (Local ground handling staff) lost control of the lower lobe loader (FMC), which hit the aircraft near the forward hold.
Immediately, maintenance was called to examine the damage and the aircraft was declared unserviceable. The transit passengers for Islamabad-Paris were shifted to the hotel. Local PIA officials at Milan have arranged transportation of passengers from Milan to Paris on different carriers, the PIA spokesman said.
He stated that the joining passengers of Milan-Islamabad will be accommodated on next PIA flight, Oslo-Milan-Islamabad. Passengers travelling from Paris to Islamabad were of local destination and have been re-booked on the next PIA flight.-PR
