ISLAMABAD: The Muttahida Sunni Council (MSC) on Monday staged protest demonstration against the target killing of Professor Dr Muhammad Adil Khan in Karachi, and demanded of the government to arrest the killers as soon as possible.

A large number of activists of the MSC staged a protest demonstration against the killing of Maulana Adil outside the National Press Club. The protesters were holding placards and banners in favour of their demands.

The protesters chanted slogans against the government for delay in arrest of killers of Maulana Adil. A heavy contingent of police was deployed on the occasion to avert any untoward incident. Police also blocked roads leading to the press club for traffic.

The renowned Sunni religious scholar, Maulana Adil Khan, and his driver, were shot dead in Karachi's Shah Faisal Colony on October 10. Adil was the head of the seminary, Jamia Farooqia, Karachi, and was on his way to his residence at Hub River Road from Darul Uloom, Korangi, Karachi, when the armed assailants targeted him.

Speaking on the occasion, Maulana Sher Muhammad Mughal said that if the killers of Maulana Adil were not arrested then "we can also go to another place".

"Do not consider us weak, and we can also move to another place," he said.

Maualana Zaheeruddin said that Maulana Adil was not living in a forest, and he was targeted on a busy road; therefore, those who were in the government would be held responsible for Maulana Adil's murder.

Maualana Abdul Gafoor of the JUI-F said that the government was responsible for the murder of Maulana Adil; therefore, a case should be registered against Prime Minister Imran Khan. Hafiz Maqsood said that despite, the passage of nine days, the killers of Maulana Adil had not been arrested. The government is deliberately hiding the killers, he said.
