WASHINGTON: Six members of Russian military intelligence agency the GRU have been charged in the United States with carrying out global cyberattacks, including an attempt to disrupt the 2017 French elections, the Justice Department announced on Monday.
The cyberattacks also included a bid to disrupt Ukraine's electric power grid, Assistant Attorney General John Demers said at a press conference. Also targeted were the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics in South Korea, Demers said.
