KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 203,622 tonnes of cargo comprising 138,895 tonnes of import cargo and 64,727 tonnes of export cargo including 6,509 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday.
The total import cargos of 138,895 tonnes comprised of 66,463 tonnes of containerised cargo; 19,316 tonnes of wheat and 53,116 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 64,727 tonnes comprised of 55,881 tonnes of containerised cargo and 8,846 tonnes of clinkers.
As many as 6,509 containers comprising of 3,150 containers import and 3,359 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 706 of 20's and 1,198 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 24 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 996 of 20's and 331 of 40's loaded containers while 797 of 20's and 452 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were four ships namely X-Press Guiernsey, Northern Dexterity, Ever Ursula and MT Shalamar carrying containers and oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were nine vessels viz. Bomar Milione, Thorsky, Diyala, CMA CGM Orfeo, Szczecin Trader, Chemchuri Naree, Lucky Trader, Plover Pacific and Qing Ping Shan carrying containers, fertilizer, sugar, mogas and clinker respectively currently at the berths.
There is one ship namely Diyala carrying containers expected to sail on Monday.
There are two vessels viz. Berlin Express and Stena Immaculate carrying containers and chemical respectively due to arrive on Monday while five vessels viz. Ginga Lion, Vasi Star, CSL Sophe, Cosco Asia and Marmoratai carrying containers and general cargo respectively are expected due to arrive on Tuesday.
PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 177,333 tonnes comprising 149,536 tonnes of import cargo and 27,797 tonnes of export cargo including 1,941 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The total import cargo of 149,536 tonnes includes 60,493 tonnes of coal; 38,320 tonnes of LNG; 4,022 tonnes of LPG; 12,000 tonnes of palm oil; 1,579 tonnes of chemical; 12,000 tonnes of soyabean; 11,260 tonnes of mogas; 780 tonnes of palm kernel and 9,082 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 27,797 tonnes includes 27,797 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 1,941 containers comprising of 478 containers import and 1,463 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
There was one ship namely Kiran Caribbean carrying coal sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while three ships namely Ever Alliance, Gas Athena and Kharartiyat carrying coal, LPG and LNG respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of twelve ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, cement, chemical, soyabean, LPG, LNG, mogas, palm kernel and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as sixteen vessels viz. Xin Hong Kong, Navarino, Boaufort, CL Belle, Infinity-V, Star Hercules, Sea Brave, Star Actair, Shao Shan-6, Unicom Spirit, Oriental Freesia, Tomson Gas, Gas Zeus, Al-Soor-II, Leader and Antigoni carrying containers, steel product, cement, coal, chemical, soyabean, wheat, LPG, mogas, condensate, palm kernel and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were three ships viz. Navarina, Lisa and CL Belle carrying containers and coal respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, and Pakistan International Bulk Terminal respectively on Monday.
There was one ships namely Lisa carrying containers due to arrive on Monday while two ships namely MSC Lisban and Maersk Kensington carrying containers are due to arrive on Tuesday.
