KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 106,640 tonnes of cargo comprising 85,030 tonnes of import cargo and 21,610 tonnes of export cargo including 5,993 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargos of 85,030 tonnes comprised of 51,884 tonnes of containerised cargo; 484 tonnes of sugar; 6,242 tonnes of DAP; 15,221 tonnes of wheat and 11,199 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 21,610 tonnes comprised of 16,627 tonnes of containerised cargo and 4,983 tonnes of clinkers.

As many as 5,993 containers comprising of 3,317 containers import and 2,676 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,289 of 20’s and 925 of 40’s loaded while 08 of 20’s and 85 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 689 of 20’s and 746 of 40’s loaded containers while 281 of 20’s and 107 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were five ships namely Bomar Milione, Thorsky, Diyala, CMA CGM Orfeo and Umm Al Anber carrying containers and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were four vessels viz. Szczecin Trader, Berlin Express, Vasi Star and Stena Immaculate carrying containers and oil tanker respectively currently at the berths.

There is one ship namely Madrid Trader carrying containers expected to sail on Thursday.

There are two vessels viz. Wan Hai-611 and Da An carrying containers and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Wednesday while four vessels viz. Cosco Asia, Global Legend, Gion Trader and Stolt Spruce carrying containers, chemical and ethanol respectively are expected due to arrive on Thursday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 239,742 tonnes comprising 206,534 tonnes of import cargo and 33,208 tonnes of export cargo including 4,482 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargo of 206,534 tonnes includes 60,573 tonnes of coal; 42,150 tonnes of LNG; 17,000 tonnes of palm oil; 11,600 tonnes of soyabean; 8,563 tonnes of mogas; 1,700 tonnes of LPG; 2,970 tonnes of palm kernel and 61,978 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 33,208 tonnes includes 10,025 tonnes of cement and 23,180 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 4,482 containers comprising of 3,262 containers import and 1,220 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

There was one ship namely Norstar Invicles carrying mogas sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while three ships namely Lisa, CL Belle and Silver Ervilic carrying containers, coal and palm oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of eleven ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, cement, soyabean, LPG, LNG and palm kernel respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as twenty vessels viz. Xin Hong Kong, Maersk Bogar, Boaufort, Osiris, Star Hercules, Agonislis, Star Allair, Shao Shan-6, Unicom Spirit, Sea Brave, Epic Bermuda, Glory Harvest, Tomson Gas, Gas Zeus, Khair Pure, Al-Soor-II, Leader, Bhai Ravi, Antigoni and Mega-1 carrying containers, steel product, cement, coal, chemical, soyabean, LPG, mogas, gas oil, palm kernel and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were three ships viz. Osiris, Al-Soor-II and Mogal carrying coal, gas oil and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Wednesday.

There are two ships namely Alai Wave and OOCL Asia carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday.
