Agriculture land: NA body concerned at mushroom growth of housing societies
ISLAMABAD: Sub-committee of the National Assembly’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) examined 10 highlighted paras of Audit Year 2014-2015 involving mega amount of the Ministry of National Food Security and Research.
Munaza Hassan convened the meeting of the committee here at the parliament.
The committee showed its concerns over mushroom growth of housing societies on agriculture land, which is creating threat to food security and reduction in agriculture produce.
Secretary Food Security informed the committee that the federal government was working on a draft for the protection of agro zones from real estate sector.
He further said that two provinces had already passed legislation over the protection of argi land from the housing societies’ developers.
The committee further directed the Pakistan Agricultural Storage and Services Corporation Ltd (PASSCO) management to strengthen the mechanism of purchasing wheat to avoid future shortage of the commodity.
The committee also recommended that the 269 employees selected illegally of the PARC should be dealt according to the ruling of the court of law.
