LAHORE: Punjab Assembly illuminated Pink on 22nd October in commemoration of the ongoing PINKtober breast cancer awareness drive and to acknowledge the efforts of Pink Ribbon for the cause of Breast Cancer. Pink Ribbon is the only organization in Pakistan dedicatedly working on the issue of breast cancer with nationwide outreach since 2004.
By turning pink for the lifesaving cause Speaker Punjab Assembly showed concern for more than 10 million Pakistani women with a high risk of breast cancer. Founder of Pink Ribbon Omer Aftab paid his gratitude to the Speaker Punjab Assembly to collaborate with Pink Ribbon for Pink Illumination.
Talking to the media on the illumination event, Founder of Pink Ribbon Omer Aftab said, "Despite the fact, that out of all the type of cancers, breast cancer is only cancer that can be cured successfully, if diagnosed at an early stage, whereas it is so unfortunate that this cancer alone claims 40,000 lives every year."
These kinds of activities are crucial to make people aware of this disease and encourage them to talk about it so that Breast Cancer can be diagnosed at an early stage.
SVP Marketing & Exports Asim Zaffar said that Shakarganj is proud to partner our flagship brand, 'Goodmilk', with Pink Ribbon to spread Breast Cancer Awareness and help build Pakistan's first specialized Breast Cancer Hospital. Our joint campaign speaks about the importance of healthy lifestyles to reduce the risk of Breast Cancer and places emphasis on periodic self-evaluations for early detection. Together we hope to make a meaningful and positive impact on our fellow Pakistani's lives.
