Imran Khan vows to visit UK if needed to bring Nawaz Sharif back
Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday vows to bring Nawaz Sharif back from London to serve his prison sentence and said he would visit the United Kingdom (UK) if needed in this regard.
Khan made these comments in an interview with ARY news, which will be aired later in the evening.
The Prime Minister said that he is ready to visit UK to meet his counterpart Boris Johnson over Nawaz Sharif issue.
The former three-time premier and current chief of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) has been living in London for nearly a year, after being temporarily released from prison for a duration of eight-week for medical treatment.
Pakistan has already made official contact with authorities in London via latter over the aforementioned issue.
The latter was written to Home Secretary Priti Patel by Prime Minister Imran Khan's anti-corruption special adviser, Mirza Shahzad Akbar on October 5.
The latter reads: “Sharif had been guilty of pillaging Pakistan's state and the Home Secretary was “duty bound” to return him under UK immigration rules.
At the moment, the UK authorities haven’t responded to the latter, which stops short of a formal extradition request.
Furthermore, Imran Khan once again cleared that he will not be giving no reconciliation ordinance (NRO).
“Opposition’s made their last attempt to get the NRO from me was at time of legislation for Financial Action Task Force (FATF). They thought, they could blackmail me, but we somehow passed the legislation,” said Khan.
“Since then, both [Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz] are out and protesting.”
“They are now trying to pressurise the army and the judiciary for the NRO,” he added.
Imran Khan laughed, when asked about Inspector General Police (IGP) Sindh arrest. “I think it as of comedy.”
He said, “I’m very disappointed to say that to you and to the nation that they are backed by every single enemy of Pakistan. India is leading from the front and Israel is also involved.”
“Israel and India lobby operate in the United States. I’m aware of America’s system. They have lobby system,” said Khan. “Israel’s lobby is the strongest in the US.”
“They [opposition] are fully operating with them. Husain Haqqani is representing them in the US,” Imran Khan claimed.
