KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 135,552 tonnes of cargo comprising 91,581 tonnes of import cargo and 43,971 tonnes of export cargo including 8,719 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday.
The total import cargos of 91,581 tonnes comprised of 67,720 tonnes of containerised cargo; 2,689 tonnes of bulk cargo; 1,627 tonnes of sugar; 6,268 tonnes of DAP and 13,277 tonnes of wheat.
The total export cargos of 43,971 tonnes comprised of 32,134 tonnes of containerised cargo; 5,937 tonnes of clinkers and 5,900 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 8,719 containers comprising of 5,262 containers import and 3,457 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,316 of 20's and 1,973 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 809 of 20's and 261 of 40's loaded containers while 290 of 20's and 918 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were three ships namely Xin Hong Kong, Kota Naked and CSL Sophie carrying containers respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were four vessels viz. Cosco Asia, Gion Trader, Stolt Spruce and Global Legend carrying containers, oil tankers and fertilizer respectively currently at the berths.
There is one ship namely Athina-III carrying wheat expected to sail on Friday. There are two vessels viz. Gdynia Trader and Honey Badger carrying containers and wheat respectively due to arrive on Friday while six vessels viz. Cosco Europe, Hyundai Jakarta, AS Roberta, Botany Bay, Ever Dainty and Marmoratai carrying containers and general cargo respectively are expected due to arrive on Saturday.
PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 157,606 tonnes comprising 113,165 tonnes of import cargo and 44,441 tonnes of export cargo including 2,751 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The total import cargo of 113,165 tonnes includes 37,370 tonnes of coal; 25,000 tonnes of LNG; 12,000 tonnes of palm oil; 6,393 tonnes of soyabean; 13,200 tonnes of gas oil; 400 tonnes of LPG; 3,488 tonnes of palm kernel and 15,314 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 44,441 tonnes includes 7,486 tonnes of cement and 36,955 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 2,751 containers comprising of 806 containers import and 1,945 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
There were four ships namely Aldi Wave, Infinity-V, Sweet Melissa and Pola Onega carrying containers, coal, soyabean and palm kernel respectively sailed out to sea on Friday afternoon.
A total number of twelve ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, cement, soyabean, LPG, LNG, gas oil and palm kernel respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as fifteen vessels viz. Xin Hong Kong, Boaufort, Zante, Olakos, Star Allair, Shao Shan-6, Unicom Spirit, Sea Brave, Epic Bermuda, Tomson Gas, Gas Zeus, Bhai Ravi, Khair Pure, Ploutos and Leader carrying containers, steel product, cement, coal, chemical, soyabean, LPG, mogas and gas oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were five ships viz. Maersk Bogar, Boaufort, Zante, Shao Shan-6 and Unicom Spirit carrying containers, steel coils, coal, soyabean and chemical respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Grains and Fertilizer Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Friday.
There were two ships namely Esperavzo-N and Tiger Winter carrying containers and chemical respectively due to arrive on Saturday while three ships namely MOL Grandour, MSC Nicole and MSC Candice carrying containers are due to arrive on Sunday.
