The Punjab government has approved eight schemes with an estimated cost of Rs12,166.967 million in the second meeting of the Provincial Development Working Party presided over by Chairman of the provincial Planning and Development Board Javaid Aslam.
The approved schemes included Rs2 billion Green Tractor Scheme, provision of Rs4 billion for laptops being given to talented students and provision of Rs1.53 billion for buses for colleges across the province.
Officials said that the PDWP also approved the construction of a new OPD block in the Services Hospital in Lahore at a cost of Rs1.426 billion, developing for Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology at Rs2.5 billion, allocation of Rs1.249 billion for third party validation of schemes pertaining to the irrigation sector costing between Rs10 million and Rs100 million, optimising canal and groundwater management to assist water user associations to maximise crop production with Australian assistance at a cost of Rs148.352million, Construction of 4.54 kilometre long Kallar Syedan Bye-Pass Road in Rawalpindi district at a cost of Rs472.688 million.
Members of the P&D Board and representatives of finance, environment, irrigation, health, higher education, agriculture and communication & works departments attended the meeting.
